Hello! I currently have an Intel CPU (I5 7600K) and I'm going to replace it with an AMD one (Ryzen 5 5600X). I will also be changing the motherboard.

Do I need to completely reinstall Windows? If yes, when should I do it and how?

    Reinstalling Windows was mandatory after a motherboard change up to Windows 7. With Windows 10, it is not mandatory.

    If you already have the Windows ISO file that you can download from the tool, you can create your USB key with Rufus

    Boot from it via the PC Boot Menu

    If you don't see it, you can search on Google "[Brand Model] Boot Menu Key"

    Choose "Custom Installation" (Not upgrade)

    You don't have to format if there's space; if there are any data, they will be stored in a Windows.old folder

    Install on the same partition, or alternatively, delete all system partitions and create a new one (This will delete the data).

      Sorry, I couldn't reply sooner! So regarding what you said, I'm directly changing the motherboard and the CPU, and when I boot up after the change, do I boot from the USB key?

        If you had taken into account what I wrote below, you would have understood that it is no longer mandatory to do a reinstallation when changing the motherboard.

    The essential drivers will be in its support. If we need to update some, we'll fetch them later. The motherboards are now capable of retrieving the drivers themselves. The cases no longer have CD/DVD drives for installation. What do you imagine when you boot up a PC for the first time?

      If he has a 2021 PC and Windows 10 version 2004, it might not work.

      Or even worse, if it's Windows 10 1909 or 1903.
