What is the opposite of lightning?

Hello,

I'm writing a story and I was wondering what the natural element opposite to lightning is (e.g. water, earth...) even though I know that strictly speaking lightning is not an element.

antonyms of "light":

- the dark, darkness, shadow.

But these are not strictly speaking "elements".

Apart from the black hole in the cosmos, there is nothing like it!
Or else, an engineer would need to create a flash that emits black light from mercury vapor, instead of a xenon flash.

But if your story were to be published, your text would need to be run through a spell/grammar checker...
