Insecure PPS

Hello,
When I log onto sites to download PPS files, I notice that these sites are not secure.
Are there any secure sites for downloading PPS files?
Thank you in advance for your response.

    Hello Jeanne.

I am neither a specialist in download sites, nor in PPS, nor in security...
But I believe that it is not the sites that can be secured, but the files to be downloaded.
Moreover, when you receive a file, PPS or otherwise, how could you open it without knowing its protection password?

Thank you for your response; it's very kind
It reassures me and seems logical
The PPS I receive can be opened without a password
But when I connect to these sites, I found quite a few PPS asking for a password that I don't have. However, not all PPS require passwords
      Have a good evening
      Thanks again

      Good evening,

The question is ambiguous since, for fans of troupe comedy, there are indeed "specialized" sites in http, for example (just the title, I refrained from looking):

      http://www.ppsmania.fr

But aside from the potential risk of data hijacking by an http site which would therefore not be secure, the pps format, whose origin is unknown, is inherently dangerous (even in the absence of double extensions that would not have been required to be displayed) as it can carry code.

Now, if we remain in the spirit of the question and, like me, search for "free pps" to verify, Monsieur de La Palice would have said that some are in "http" and others in "https".

A connection to an https site provides security in the exchanges between this site and my PC, but does not guarantee that I won't be redirected to a dubious site or that even without leaving the site in question, downloads will not be risky.

I have deliberately only mentioned the question of free sites; if one seeks to download without paying from sites that are not free, one often exposes oneself to risks of pop-ups, unsolicited internet connections, viruses, and other nasties.

Aside from paid sites, password-protected downloads are most often compressed archives (often rar), allowing at least theoretically for illicit content to escape internet searches.

        Hello
And thank you for your reply
All of this is a bit complicated for me, as a little retiree, minding my own business. But, I admit that I used to enjoy those colorful and musical PPS. However, reading your message, I feel that I'm not on the right track; therefore, I will abandon this practice
I wish you a good day.
