Hello everyone,

I currently have a 21.5 inch iMac , Late 2010 , Mac OS X 10.7.5 software

On my App Store, it says " macOSX Hight Sierra ", "FREE UPDATE".
However when I click to update it I get this message: " Unable to complete your purchase - This update requires macOS 10.8 or later ."

So I downloaded OS X Mountain Lion for FREE on "Files Villa" here is the link:
https://filesvilla.com/mac-os-x-mavericks-10-9-5-free-download-dmg-file/
The download is OK, I opened OS X Mountain Lion in "
Download
" and it opened from a device and I clicked "install OS X Mountain Lion".

To install, I have accepted the conditions, then I am asked to choose the disk on which I want it installed. I choose my INTERNAL DISK "Macintosh HD", I enter my password and during the installation, this message appears: " An error occurred during the preparation of the installation. Try to run this again. application "

So I tried a tutorial where the concept is to install it on an EXTERNAL DISK. So I took a 64gb usb key, put it in "mac os extended (journaled)" format then created "a partition" and selected the "GUID Partition Table scheme". By repeating the same steps as the previous one and selecting EXTERNAL DRIVE, the same message appears: " An error occurred while preparing for installation. Try to run this application again "

I don't know what to do, I took 2 days to download OS X 10.9.5 and again, the second time was good, the first failed. And now I'm struggling to get it installed.

Please give me a little help.

Hello,

Sorry, I don't speak the language, so Google will translate my answer!

The problem may be due to the date, the certificates are no longer valid since October 2019 see here:

https://www.journaldulapin.com/2018/08/10/mavericks-date-verification/

In the installation interface, you must therefore launch the Terminal (Utilities -> Terminal) and type the following command.
date 1020200019
The exact syntax is date MMDDHHmmYY but I have already specified a valid date (MM for the month, DD for the day, HH for the hour, mm for the minutes and YY for the year). The value puts the date on October 20, enough to install the OS.
Once it's done, macOS should update itself by connecting to the Internet.

Regards.

Apple is the only one site authorized to deliver any kind of macOS release.

So, the way you obtained mac OS X 10.9.5 is not valid. In this case, you cannot expect to install it correctly.

See this link to get legit releases of macOS :
