NORTON: Subscription expired but still protected?

Hello,
I have red messages everywhere from Norton indicating that my subscription has expired and that I need to renew it; however, when I take a closer look, everything seems to be working perfectly, and I can even activate my Secure VPN (see screenshot below)... I wonder why I should renew anything.
Is this normal in your opinion, and would you advise me to take out a new subscription?
Thank you

Hello,
Norton informs you that your subscription has ended, which means that Norton Security will no longer be updated, making it quickly obsolete.

If you are using Windows 10, you do not need an antivirus, as Windows 10 already has its own effective antivirus, which takes over as soon as no other antivirus is installed.

In summary:
- Either you pay for your subscription.
- Or you uninstall Norton; if you are using Windows 10, you will automatically switch to Microsoft/Windows Defender. You can also opt for a free antivirus like Kaspersky Cloud Free.

If you want to uninstall Norton, do it with Revo Uninstaller in advanced scan mode (see the tutorial below).

It's up to you to see and choose the option that suits you best.

Revo Uninstaller tutorial to read carefully.

Accept the uninstallation of the program you want to uninstall, and if there is an error message stating that uninstallation is impossible, close the error message and continue the procedure.

Check "Advanced scan" and then click "Scan".

Click on "Select all" then "Delete"; if a second list appears, do the same, and once everything is deleted, click on "Finish" and a restart may be required.

Thank you, I understand that there is no need to have antivirus software. The rest, especially the VPN, may justify the renewal, so I will think about it. Have a good day.

The VPN does not protect against infections; antivirus vendors perpetuate a bit of confusion to sell them, it’s all marketing. It's up to you to see if you really need a VPN, see this page paragraph Who needs a VPN?.

Hello,

I have the same question as Charlesdu72 and I would like to check what bazfile responded:

  • Norton tells you that your subscription has expired, meaning that Norton Security will no longer be updated, which will quickly render it obsolete.

I am in the same situation; I was going to buy a new subscription to Norton, but I see that it continues to work, the VPN too, as well as LiveUpdate:

So, can we check somewhere if Norton stops updates after a certain point or if the product continues to work without issues (aside from the persistent subscription expiration messages)?

Thank you for your responses.

Check this with Norton https://support.norton.com/sp/fr/fr/home/current/solutions/v54413149
