Hello, my printer is no longer printing in black. I've done several cleanings but nothing works. I would like to point out that for copying everything works fine, there is no problem with black.
Thank you for guiding me once again to solve this issue.
Have a good day.

Hello,
What do you mean by... I want to clarify that the photocopy function works fine, there is no problem with the black ink?
Have you conducted any diagnostics... https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=fr&lang=fr&prod=dcpj315w_eu_as&faqid=faq00000735_011

When I make a photocopy, the black works. I was told "it's because I don't print enough and the ink is dry," but if the black works for the photocopy of a document, the head isn't dry???? Is it coming from my computer? While searching, I found a site that says I should "uninstall" the printer, but I'm afraid to do that. And why just the black?
Thank you -
No, not at all. I have indeed photocopied a document and it worked; it was printed in black.
As for the diagnostic, I have done it several times, and each time no black block appears despite the cleaning between each diagnostic. -
Hello CB3074,
If you can print black, the printer is not the issue; if it were, no document would print in that color!
Question:
When you first installed this printer on your PC, how did you proceed?
Did you use the accompanying CD/DVD, for example?
You don't specify which operating system the PC is running, nor what architecture it is (32 or 64 bits)?
Regards.

I don't know; until now, I haven't needed it. Indeed, Windows 10
the cartridges are not Brother
which application should I look for?
before printing, I checked the different settings and didn't see anything changed
can you tell me what a "driver" is?-
To summarize, the driver is a utility file that helps recognize and manage a device connected to the PC, such as a printer, external hard drive, scanner, etc., etc....
It happens that cartridges, when they are not brand ones, end up causing issues, it's possible that you encounter this today.
I encountered a similar problem on an Epson that a friend owns, he installed generic cartridges and was happy to see everything working until the moment he wanted to perform a print head cleaning; when he started the procedure, the machine went into standby mode and it was impossible to make it do anything else!!!
After installing brand cartridges, everything returned to normal.......food for thought!
If you installed the printer properly, you should find Brother in Start, the small window at the bottom left of the taskbar, click on it to display the programs and Brother should be there, click on it again and the applications should appear.
I don't know Brother, but probably one of these applications is used to configure printing.

Hello, I also thought about the cartridges, but the photocopying won't print. I'm going through the user manual, but I'll read it tonight because I have to go to work.
Thank you for your patience with people like me who are "ignorant" in this field.-
Like everyone else, it's normal for us to have gaps in various areas; we can't master everything, so my principle is to try to help when I know how!
That's why I'm here, although I don't have full mastery yet, computing always holds some surprises!
I believe that going back to the original cartridges should, I hope, solve the problems; it may not be a sure thing, but you will likely eliminate a source of malfunction by doing so.
Best regards

ok but I won't be able to look for it right away, there are no stores nearby. I'll try to uninstall this weekend, but I don't understand everything, I'll keep you updated.
thanks again -
Hello, no problem, I'm happy to buy Brother cartridges but I live in a small village without a shop and I'm not going to travel just for the cartridges. I noticed that this problem seems common and one of the proposed solutions is to uninstall the printer, go to the official Brother website and install the latest version.
I didn't understand why this tutorial makes me go through several steps to uninstall, while in "start" by clicking on the printer icon we can "uninstall".
I'll keep you updated on the result.
Thank you.-
Good evening CB3074,
At Brother, as with other manufacturers, there are utilities to properly uninstall printers. For the model in question, it is this file, delinf_10500.EXE.
If uninstalling the printer is your plan, you might as well do it by the book.
However, before reinstalling it, there should not be a single trace left on the PC to avoid potential conflicts between an old and a new installation.
The printer should also be disconnected from the PC in the case of a wired connection, and the PC should be restarted. It is only after this that we proceed with the reinstallation; let's set ourselves up for success!
The driver/software suite for this printer is dcp-j315w-inst-B1-cd1.EXE, download and install it.
Best regards.
