Hello,

I am watching TV with Captvty but I am encountering a problem with the RMC Découverte channel where an error message appears, see the screenshot below (I am on Windows 10):

    Hello.
    I have been using Captvty in the greatest silence and with the utmost pleasure for years. When I encounter problems accessing channels, their content, or downloading replays, I wait patiently for the fix that always comes. Thanks to Guillaume for his thankless and selfless work.
    I therefore salute the creator of this wonder for the first time because I just read the comment of a certain Roger: vile!
    This person didn't even understand the limits that Guillaume set for his tool: no circumventing of DRM.
    And when someone points out his ingratitude, he finds nothing better than to double down: what a mentality indeed.
    So dear Roger, as you suggest, pay to find someone more serious than Guillaume. I wish you success in this search... but don't get your hopes up too much.
    My contribution to this discussion will stop here, and there's no need to respond as foolishly as above, I will already be back in my lair.

      Hello Geodag.

      I have been one of the silent users of Captvty for years. But unlike you and many others, I have paid by making a donation to Guillaume.

      Regarding Roger's comment, I have to admit that he is right, and I can only observe the total absence of communication or responses from Guillaume for several years regarding certain bugs.

      The same goes for the dedicated Captvty forum on NeoNet where all posts that do not praise Guillaume's work or make any criticism are systematically deleted by the moderator pulsar33, who must be a friend of Guillaume, if not Guillaume himself.

      Finally, Captvty has presented not only bugs reported since 2021, which Guillaume has not fixed regarding the replays of the Alice group (RMC Découverte, RMC Story), and we are in 2023, but Guillaume does not communicate about the reasons for this malfunction despite several requests. He probably does not want to admit that he is either incompetent or now under the orders of certain TV channel groups...

      Moreover, there is also a major bug that wrecks hard drive capacities: When converting a direct TS file to MP4, the process sometimes freezes for no reason, and it is impossible to interrupt the ongoing conversion. You have to force the application to quit.

      You end up with several gigabytes of disk space consumed and impossible to recover because the application's temporary memory management has been poorly coded by Guillaume. In technical jargon, we call it the Garbage Collector...

      I have thus lost nearly 50 gigabytes on my hard drive because of this nonsense. They are irrecoverable because they are not indexed by Windows. Well done, Guillaume! I think I have the right to shout because, unlike all of you here, I paid a nice sum by making a donation to Guillaume, and believe me, I regret it now given the significant drop in quality that Guillaume does not acknowledge with his application.

    Hello everyone,
    I have been a savvy user of Captvty for many years and it is becoming difficult to download certain replays!
    There are not too many issues with "live" broadcasts; a USB stick or a 2.5 external HDD is enough, all TVs can do that, including boxes! But given the number of ads and the disregard for timing, it's a nightmare to process later for storage!

    Replays are a different story. The C+ channels (C8-Cstar) no longer seem to be available, just like many shows (US series) from the M6 Group, and I no longer have ANY shows for RMC, which not long ago aired in 1080p.
    Those famous DRM are just a scapegoat when it comes to shows that have been rebroadcast for years.
    I think it's more of a desire from the channels to push us towards their paid platforms like Salto.
    However, it is unthinkable to pay for something that is broadcast for free just because we can't watch 3 channels at once!
    I also think that with these "platforms," the storage locations for videos have changed and are no longer on the channels' servers and that new players have emerged, sometimes unsupported.

    For RMC, I can't find ANYTHING even for a quick recovery through their site.

    I am using the very recent version 2.9.4 and the version 3.0.0.65404 now in Alpha. But nothing works, same kind of error message and worse, no replay list at all!

    Meh... The least Guillaume could do is respond when we report issues, if only to thank us, especially when we've just made a €27 donation on his site via the Cotiz'up payment platform..

    I didn't "complain," I played along. For nothing! Not even a thank you...

    If Guillaume can't or doesn't want to restore the recordings of the replays from the Altice group (RMC Story & Co) for DRM reasons, he should just say so; it would be more honest of him.

    Hello,
    How is it that Guillaume (the editor of the Captvty software) never responds to the messages we send him?
    Yet on his site, he offers a link for assistance,
    but it’s useless, he never replies.
    Honestly, it lacks seriousness.
    Replay and downloads of shows on many channels have become impossible
    (RMC Découverte & Story, W9, and many others)
    and the updates do nothing to change that.

      He did it, go to a download of captvty 2.8.10.2 and you will read the issue with Arte....

      I'd like to add to what bazfile said that you are using version 3 of Captvty, which is a development version (beta) and may contain bugs.
      Please use version 2, which is stable in principle.

        Hello - The "beta" version is mainly useful for searching within a channel. This function is missing in version 2.

    Thank you for your previous responses.

    I have already updated Captvty; the latest stable version of Captvty that I am using is 2.9.2.1, but I am also using the latest version 3 of Captvty, which is a development (beta) version and may contain bugs; I already know that it is 3.0.0.65303.

    It turns out that when using the stable version 2: 2.9.2.1 of Captvty while watching the channel RMC Découverte, I only see this (in the catch-up) see screenshot below:



    Is it the same for other users using the stable version 2: 2.9.2.1 of Captvty?

    Great news, version 2.9.3 has just been released, and apparently everything is working correctly
    ( well, I haven't tried all the channels ) so you can go ahead with the update.

    The least one can do when offering assistance is to respect these commitments
    and respond to users' messages, rather than leaving them in difficulty.
    Otherwise, there's no point in suggesting they reach out in case of problems.
    Keeping one's word is important (it's part of my values), unlike this publisher.
    And about his free software, as you say so well,
    it doesn't work.
    I would rather pay and deal with serious people, which is not the case with this Guillaume.

      Hi,

      Guillaume, as indicated on his site, complies with the law, and therefore if some channels implement DRM, he cannot do anything to bypass that. See the FAQ: https://captvty.fr/faq#legal
      I remind you that Guillaume also has a life outside of this. He takes into account the comments made even if you don't notice it and reacts fairly quickly, I think.
      Try downloading Replay content from the M6 group by yourself, or from Canal, if you are not satisfied with this "free" software, and you will realize that it is not simple, if not impossible. And in any case, you would be violating the current legislation and the general conditions of most sites that primarily offer streaming.

      It is people like you who ended the existence of TVO, because after a while of complaining, well-meaning people who take care of it eventually get fed up!

      It's all well and good to update the RTS, but if it doesn't allow you to download RTS videos, there's no point in having it. Just remove the channel and add French channels like M6, C8, and also 6ter.
