Hello,
Hello, I'm a beginner with NAS.
I see that Video Station doesn't play all my videos on my PC (it's fine on TV)
I'm looking to understand how to set VLC for previewing my movies.

Thank you all for your help
I've searched but it doesn't seem simple!!

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 89.0.4389.82

I solved my problem; it's an audio codec issue that doesn't support EAC3 and DTS 5.1 formats, among others.
Synology clearly states that currently, for my model, nothing is ready because these formats are protected by rights.
However, Synology recommends converting audio formats with: XMediaRecode3. I find it impossible to understand!!
I'm looking for a converter that does not affect the size of my video but only allows converting AEC3 to AAC, for example.
Movavi Video Converter changes the dimensions
FormatFactory does too, as well as the others.
Yet I'm trying to get as close as possible!!

    Thank you!

      Hello Emilie,

Actually... The problem is related to the NAS you purchased.

Some NAS are designed for multimedia while others are made for office use.

With Synology, it's quite easy to recognize them:

The Synology XXX Play range is made for multimedia. (For example, Synology NAS 216 Play)

The rest, the XXX J / XXX + are more geared towards office use. (For example, Synology NAS 216 J, Synology NAS 216 +).

If you want to preview your files, the best way is to use the DS FILE mobile app, select your file, and then open it with VLC (also a mobile app, pre-installed on your smartphone or tablet).

This way, there are no codec issues since the video will run on your mobile and not on the NAS.

I know I'm bringing up a topic from the past, but this might help some people.

      Ima.
