Script Error During Java Installation

Hello, I encountered a problem while installing Java. When I run the Java installation file and click on install, a message appears, displaying:
Script Error
An error occurred in the script on this page
Line: 1
Character: 1
Error: ")" expected
Code: 0
URL
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page: YES NO
Regardless of my answer YES or NO, the page disappears and the installation does not proceed. Moreover, I cannot re-run the file because it is still running in the task manager under the details tab, so I am forced to end it to re-run the file.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Hello,

Where did you get the Java installation file?
The official site is:
https://www.oracle.com/fr/java/technologies/javase-downloads.html

Note: in the downloadable files, there are also versions without installation (a zip to unzip, for example)

I downloaded the file from www.java.com, several of my friends did it and they had no problems, I am desperate, I haven't stopped looking for the cause online but it's impossible to find. I had never encountered this problem before.

Hello,

As I mentioned earlier, you should try to download Java from the official website, possibly in zip version without installation.

As for the Internet Explorer issue, since that's what we're talking about, you can take a look at this page:

Hello,

I have the same problem. Whether I go through the website or download the file directly... nothing works (I'm talking about version 8u281).
Even by uninstalling the previous version, it still doesn't work.
I have 3 other PCs and I have no issues with them.
I copied all the settings, parameters, etc., and it still doesn't work.
The only version I can install is 8u271.
As for the browser issues, that doesn't solve anything.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance.

I am exactly in the same situation. Thank you for the indication of version 8u271... which may allow me to work on this computer again.

Hello everyone,

we are in 2023 and the problem still exists: For those who still have issues, disable your Windows firewall, then click on this link and install the exe. That's it, it worked well for me anyway. I hope I’ve helped!
