Hello everyone.
On August 15, 2020, an update for 4K Video Downloader was delivered. "Stupid and mean," I installed it.
Horror!!!!!!
- First, when you want to import a list, you are systematically faced with a window asking for the license number. Personally, I use it to download DIY tutorials.
- Then (more seriously) my PC is dragging like you wouldn't believe: the file explorer takes ages to display, JPG and MP4 thumbnails are replaced by standard thumbnails (not their content), PDF is a white thumbnail, etc. And yet I have an Intel Core I9 with 32GB of RAM.
If I uninstall 4K Video Downloader, after 2 reboots (1 from the admin and 1 from the "normal" user) my PC works fine.
Have you experienced this problem? Do you know of any open source software equivalent to 4K Video Downloader?
Thanks for your responses.
Configuration: Windows 10 PRO 64 bits / Firefox 79.0

Hello, I use this website to download videos: https://www.freemake.com/fr/free_video_downloader/ when you click on download, a new page opens with the video, you just need to click on the three small dots at the bottom right of the video and click on download

Thanks for the info.
The site is very good, but it's not quite what I'm looking for; I want to be able to make lists.
I've downloaded the software they're offering, which would suit me better, but the problem is that it's paid, and I don't want to invest (even if it's not too expensive) in this kind of tool, because if it's no longer updated or if it stops working, well... :)
Well, it allowed me to test in real the sandbox of windows, super tool.
Otherwise, I found youtube-dl which doesn't seem bad, open source, cross-platform. Other than a graphical interface for windows, it seems to work in command line. A little BAT point and hop into the box. It has a lot of options.
I'll test it tomorrow and will post my response here.
Have a good evening.

Hello,
I just installed 4K Video Downloader on one of my computers.
I haven't noticed anything particular.
At first, there’s a window that opens in the browser offering to switch to paid versions. When I closed them, they didn’t come back.
The only difference I see with the previous version is the indication at the bottom of the window about a limitation on the number of daily downloads.
Otherwise, everything is working as with the previous version and I have no disruptions on the computer.
I’d like to point out that on CCM, an older version is available for download (the update hasn’t been made)

So, the continuation of my adventures:
My PC started lagging again this afternoon, even though 4K Video Downloader has been uninstalled for 3 or 4 days.
Oooooohhhhh !!!! What about Ski Pass ????
The process "COM Surrogate" is consuming all the resources.
A quick look on the Internet, a little scan with Malwarebytes. Oh yeah, it’s beeping everywhere. Junk !!!!!
Well, a sandbox is mandatory now. :)
I don’t know if I’m going to reinstall 4K Video Downloader; it’s still pretty good.
For now, the topic is closed. Thanks everyone.
