Calc: compare two columns and copy a value from column 3 to column 4

Hello,
Despite having searched this forum, I can't find a solution to my problem. I am a complete beginner with functions and other calculations on spreadsheets, so your help would be really appreciated. My issue is as follows:
I have put all the data on a Calc sheet.
Column A contains about 6000 cells (no duplicates, it's an inventory of references).
Column C contains a little over 3000 cells (also no duplicates).
The values in column C are necessarily included in column A.
Column D contains as many cells as column C and contains the values I would like to copy into column B when the value of the cell in column C equals the value of the cell in column A.
I have tried with functions but have come up empty. Can you help me, please?
