Hello everyone

I found some VF-50 floppy disks from the time I had a Canon Ion PC.
Is there a lab that can transfer the photos to USB?

Best regards

André

    Hello,

(I don't really know, too old for me, but ...)

In the lab, yes it can be done, you need to ask a computer scientist and even a photographer around you.
Ask for a quote because it can add up.

    Otherwise, are these standard diskettes?
Did you read them on your PC's floppy drive?

If yes, then see if you have a relative who would have a PC with a floppy drive
    or
you buy an external floppy drive.
(to see if the drive is compatible with your current Windows and if the photo format will be recognized)

    Hello,

does it exist in Sweden http://www.garpenholm.se/vf-50/ I haven't found any others

However, if these diskettes are in standard formats, they should be readable on a PC equipped with a floppy drive... I’ve looked for a few below... it should also be possible on an old PC (with floppy) sold... not too expensive..

That said, it is very likely that the flexible disk inside is degraded or moldy and requires careful cleaning beforehand...

It may also be that these diskettes no longer contain anything at all, erased over time and the magnetic surroundings of our civilization...?? depending on the quality of the original medium.

otherwise, a USB floppy drive is sold here https://www.ebay.ie/sch/sis.html?_nkw=NOUVEAU%201%2044Mb%203%205%20Usb%20Floppy%20Disk%20Lecteur%20de%20disquette%20FDD%20noir%20externe%20usb&_itemId=223104217743#shpCntId

And also to install in a PC here https://www.ebay.ie/itm/FLOPPY-DISK-DRIVE-PANASONIC-MODEL-No-JU-256A738P-LECTEUR-DE-DISQUETTE/183875062227?hash=item2acfcec9d3%3Ag%3A0U4AAOSwi%7E1dFhFH

Given the price, the risk isn't very high, in case it would be a lost cause.

      Thank you for these links,
I had indeed found the address in Sweden and I will contact them as a last resort
And it’s true that these photos have been on floppy disks since 1995 and have travelled a lot, especially in Africa.
So, perhaps there isn’t much left on them. To be continued...
