Hello,

I created an Excel document with Microsoft Office for Mac 2008. When I tried to open it on another PC, there was a "file" incompatibility even though I saved it in Excel Workbook 97-2004 (.xls) format. The version on the second PC is Excel 2008.
I also saved this same file in PDF format, which I was able to open on the other PC, but I am unable to modify it.
What can I do to open this file on the second PC without having to recreate it?
Thank you in advance for your responses...

Hello,

Compatibility mode is not an error, but just a message to let you know that you have opened a file in the old .xls format.
There will therefore be limitations (65,000 rows, do not use functions absent from 2003, fewer conditional formats, etc.).
If you save it as .xlsx you won't see this message.
Eric
By trying continuously, we eventually succeed.
So the more it fails, the more chances we have for it to work. (the Shadoks)
In addition to thanking you (yes, it can be done!!!), please remember to mark it as resolved. Thank you.

Change your eyes ;-)
And the first one right at the top Excel Workbook (.xlsx)?

If you have macros, you will need to choose .xlsm (the more can include the less, can also be without macros)
You can also use .xlsb (with or without macros)

Hello Éric,

It will be wiser to put on my glasses; what an idea to set this format apart in the dropdown menu ;-)
I will test this file this afternoon and let you know.
Have a good day.
