No Wechat notifications

Hello,

I had already asked about the missing red dots on WeChat, but now it's worse: I'm not receiving any notifications, either sound or visual, even though it's set up. Or maybe just one every now and then.
When I open WeChat, I read at the very top in red "network unavailable" and then this message disappears in 2 seconds and then it rings. My mobile is a Samsung J7-16.

Hello everyone,

Pierr10, I would like to add a small note regarding notifications, a slight downside: in the morning when I wake up, as soon as I pick up my mobile, I have to open Wechat and close it again, otherwise I don't receive notifications when a message comes in.

It's a habit to get into.

Hello,

I've noticed the same thing: Sometimes there are no WeChat notifications when a message arrives.
It’s random.
I usually delete WeChat from the list of open apps because WeChat drains the battery capacity. But it clearly has nothing to do with it.
I never get a "network unavailable" message.

So no explanations. I find that it's a bit better right now.

  Actually, notifications used to be regular. My wife's Samsung receives them consistently.
  I open Wechat which, as I told you, says "Network unavailable" and offers to fix it. I click "fix" and the notifications work... for 2 minutes.
  I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling Wechat, but then I would lose my contacts. I know that we can back them up, but I don't understand the protocol. What should I do?

  Assuming I uninstall Wechat and then reinstall it, will I be able to recover my contacts through the scan? Yes, but do you think that will solve the problem?
  My Samsung J7 has been reset, I thought that was the cause, but my wife's phone (Samsung S6) has also been reset and she still receives notifications.
  Could this come from the phone itself?

    I don't think reinstalling WeChat will solve the problem.
    If you search a bit online, you'll find that many users are affected.
    
    Some believe that the issue is related to battery power saving, and therefore suggest excluding WeChat from the monitored apps.
    This means that the smartphone won't put WeChat to sleep: the battery life may be affected.
    
    Others hope for an update of the app with a fix...
    
    So no solutions in the immediate future.

  I followed your advice, I disabled power saving on my Samsung J7* by going to: Settings/Battery, storage, memory/Battery/tabs at the bottom "disable power saving" and there..... miracle....
  The WeChat notifications, both sound and visual, are back!!!! This is unexpected!!
  
  Even though I don't quite understand the connection, the result is there. Because not long ago, everything was working well while I hadn't disabled anything.
  
  I too, hope for a WeChat update to reactivate power saving.
  
  So I will keep the forum updated on the longevity of the notifications so that this benefits other users.
  On a J7, it's not too bad since the battery life is quite high.
