Hello and thank you for your help,
I created a small database on Access. My goal is to merge this database with a Word document.
I have done this in the past with Access 2003 and had no problem; now I have Access 2016 and nothing is working. When I try to merge the database with Word, Access tells me that it cannot because the database is in “exclusive mode.” I don’t know this term. I have searched the web for explanations, but nothing has helped me solve my problem.
Can you help me!!!!
Thank you!

Hello, does the message mention "opened in exclusive mode"? If so, it means that someone (or a program) has opened the database and has done something preventing any other action on the file as long as it remains open. It may be enough to close everything and reopen it, or to restart the PC.
With Access 2016, you create the database, then click on External Data and then on Word.
A window opens to choose the document you want to merge, and it is at this moment that Access tells me it cannot proceed because I am in exclusive mode.
