Hello everyone,
I have a Philips 32PFL5406H/12 television and I'm using the USB port to view my photos. The problem is that the television does not respect the order of the files established on the USB stick.
For example, the file DSC_585 will be placed before the file DSC_584.
I haven't found a solution, so if anyone has an idea, THANK YOU.

Hello,
When image playback is started, check by pressing the "options" button on the remote control that random playback is disabled. -

It seems not, according to xeron33, it's the image format that takes precedence over everything else, at least according to his last response ;-) "

Thank you for all your contributions, regarding what you said Stargate43 (above), no it's not the format that takes precedence but indeed the dates of the shots and then the format.
Also note, if the dates of the shots are the same, the ranking is based on the file name, for example if DSC_587 has the same shot date as DSC_588, it will be ranked before DSC_588 if their image formats are identical.
So in my opinion the order of priorities is:
1) the name
2) the date and time of the shot
3) the format of the photo
That is to say:
===> Priority to the Name
DSC_589
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 2136:3216
DSC_590
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 2136:3216
DSC_591
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 2136:3216
The ranking will be DSC_589, DSC_590 then DSC_591
===> Priority to the date and time
DSC_589
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 2136:3216
DSC_590
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:01 format 2136:3216
DSC_591
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 2136:3216
The ranking will be DSC_589, DSC_591 then DSC_590
===> Priority to the Format
DSC_589
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 3216:2136
DSC_590
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:00 format 2136:3216
DSC_591
date and time of the shot: 20/02/2018 at 10:01 format 2136:3216
The ranking will be DSC_590, DSC_589 then DSC_591

Thank you for your response. The issue is that reading the folder copied to the USB stick is done sequentially, but the order of writing is very strangely different:
when I’m on the computer, the order is respected on the USB stick:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7....etc
But then when I insert this USB stick into the TV’s USB port, it sometimes displays them out of order:
1,2,3,4,6,7,5
As a result, the TV reads the second order with the photos misplaced.
I have disabled the "shuffle" option, but it doesn't change anything. -
Good evening,
I don't think this is solvable. For example, on a Sandisk Cruzer Glide 32 Gb USB drive, there is a folder with music in it. On my PC, they are sorted alphabetically, but when I plug it into my Sony KDL40BX400 TV, the files are sorted by the date they were added to the drive, and there's nothing I can do about it.
What you could try with, for example, 5 photos, is to rename them by adding a number in front:
1 - DSC_584
2 - DSC_585
3 - DSC_586
4 - DSC_587
5 - DSC_588
Etc...
I know it's a bit of work, but it might work.
Another example that applies to my PC and my hard drive when I connect it to my home theater:
There are movie series like Indiana Jones; there are 4 movies, and I named them as follows:
1 - Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
2 - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
3 - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
4 - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
If I were to put them on the hard drive without numbering, they would be sorted alphabetically on my PC as follows:
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
And on my Sony BDV-N7100 home theater, they would be sorted by the "download" date.
To keep the chronological release order of the films, I had to rename them.
It may be the same for renaming your photos.
Best regards and have a good evening ;-)
PS: A little feedback would be nice for other internet users who might find themselves in the same situation as you; thank you ;-)

What is fidelity? It's just a lack of opportunities;-) -
Thank you for your response, it's a real headache! It's hard to make sense of it...
I tried with a sample of 7 photos:
on the USB stick I have:
Name Last Modified
DSC_0755 Feb 12 10:25
DSC_0764 Feb 12 10:25
DSC_0765 Feb 9 15:23
DSC_0766 Feb 12 10:25
DSC_0767 Feb 12 10:26
DSC_0769 Feb 23 19:50
DSC_0770 Feb 9 15:28
and when I insert the stick into the TV I have the same order except DSC_0770 before DSC_0769.
This order might seem logical since the creation date of DSC_0769 is later than DSC_0770, but why then does DSC_0770 not appear first when playing on the TV?
Furthermore, the creation date displayed on the TV is February 23 for all photos, but I think that's not very important
For my part, aside from making folders and subfolders to make sure the photos don't get mixed up, I don't see any other solutions...
It's a shame that manufacturers don't align with the order established on computers!
Thank you all if you have any ideas or info please pass it along-
Hi,
But there's something wrong with this order, the numbering of the photos is not logical in relation to the dates, DSC_0764 from February 12 is before DSC_0765 from February 9, the numbering makes sense but not the order of the dates, which probably creates confusion with the TV.
On the other hand, the order of the photos is still not logical, DSC_0765 could not have been taken before DSC_0764 if we follow the chronological order, unless it’s not the same year ;-)
Chronologically, the real order should be as follows:
DSC_0765 Feb 9 15:23
DSC_0770 Feb 9 15:28
DSC_0764 Feb 12 10:25
DSC_0755 Feb 12 10:25
DSC_0766 Feb 12 10:25
DSC_0767 Feb 12 10:26
DSC_0769 Feb 23 19:50
Not only do we have to take the date into account but also the time at which the photos were taken; if they are taken on the same day, they should be classified according to the time, and if the time is the same, then the photo number takes precedence.
But in any case, something isn’t right, some photos do not have the correct numbering, a photo No. 1 cannot have been taken after a photo No. 2, a photo taken on January 1 can’t be taken after a photo taken on January 2.
All these factors are taken into account and create confusion for your TV.
But try the experiment I suggested in my earlier response, assign a number yourself in front of the photo name without considering either the date or the camera's assigned number:
1 - DSC_0755 Feb 12 10:25
2 - DSC_0764 Feb 12 10:25
3 - DSC_0765 Feb 9 15:23
4 - DSC_0766 Feb 12 10:25
5 - DSC_0767 Feb 12 10:26
6 - DSC_0769 Feb 23 19:50
7 - DSC_0770 Feb 9 15:28
This order should be respected regardless of the device that reads it.
The idea from the knucklehead (which I acknowledge by the way) below should not be excluded either ;-)
Best regards ;-)

Hello, for photos only I have my idea, it's to make a slideshow in video file with editing software where we can add titles, transitions, music, a mini movie in short! And it's less boring to watch
"Donkeys change their minds, not fools."
remember to put "resolved" in your message if that's the case -
Thank you for your response. Changing the file names doesn't change anything; it takes into account the date the photos were taken, which can be modified via Windows, but it apparently also considers the dimensions: on my TV, it displays 2136:3216 or 3216:2136. If DSC_587 has a date of capture of 25/02 at 10:29 and dimensions of 2136:3216, the file will be sorted before DSC_583, which has a date of capture of 25/02 at 10:29 and dimensions of 3216:2136.
In fact, the dimensions 2136:3216 correspond to a horizontal capture and the other to a vertical one.
So in my opinion, this is unmanageable!
Thank you. -
Hi,
aren't those the "tags" that your TV reads?

I say this, I say nothing, but what does Philips support say about it?
