Hello. I would like to get a USB Wi-Fi adapter, but the problem is that many of the best Wi-Fi adapters work on 3.0, and my desktop PC doesn't have USB 3.0.
What do you recommend? Is it better to go for 3.0 or to opt for 2.0?

Hello,
A USB 3.0 port is a port that can transfer files up to 45 MB/s, while a 2.0 port can only reach up to 5 MB/s. I don't think it affects WiFi networks.

Hello,
when we talk about wifi/USB, we don't say wifi key, but wifi adapter
As mentioned earlier, USB 3.0 is hardly useful for a wifi adapter, even 802.11ac, but well, it won’t hurt if you get it, it will adapt.
and... there you go!

Hello FrançoisCam
Right now, get USB 3 or higher if it exists, as brupala said in 2017.
In 2017, his key did not allow him to enjoy USB 3 on his PC, that's true.
But with backward compatibility, the key still works even if it's limited by a PC one day. But it's not soldered to a PC and can be used on another.

On this day in 2023 or later, your more recent key, on your PC or a future one, could work with a more recent Wi-Fi standard, more bandwidth-hungry, and benefit from the throughput of the newer USB standard as long as you use this key.
There you go. And to the question from 2017, the answer is still valid: if you have the choice, go for the most interesting standard.
