J'ai récemment reçu une publicité proposant un disque dur de 1,5 To, mais combien cela fait-il en Go au total ?

    Hello,

    B = Bytes = Bytes
    b = bits = bits

    So 1.5TB = 1.5To = 1500Go

    However, with the giga-octet / gibi-octet conversion (see Wikipedia for the difference), a hard drive sold as 1.5To will actually provide 1396.98Go

    That’s the main idea, to keep it short.

      Not quite, only Windows still confuses the units.

      1.5TB is 1500GB, it's in gibibytes that it will be 1396.98GiB.

        Yes, of course, but it was just to simplify what Larmine will see on their PC when they connect it (in case of a purchase ^^).

        So adding Gio to the story wouldn't be useful since Larmine will never see it displayed anywhere.

        If he connects his drive to a Mac or a PC with Linux, he will see real GiB or actual GB, as I mentioned, only Windows still makes the confusion.

        To the precise question, no.
        But if you do a quick little calculation, you could get the answer.
        Not to mention that if you had looked it up on Google, you would have found the answer.

        If durock tells you that 1T is 1000Go, then 1.5T is that plus half.
        So, 1500Go.

    Now regarding the unit
    B = Byte
    https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte
    1B (byte) = 1o (octet) = 8b (bits)
    1.5TB = 1500Go
    But if as mentioned in the title we are talking about Tb (Terabits), then the capacity in bytes is to be divided by 8
    and 1Tb = 187.5Go 
     It is very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
                                                         Especially when it's not there...
