Question

I'm going to assume that you have indeed inserted a continuous section break;
but if it still changes page, perhaps it's simply that between the continuous section break and the bottom of the page,
there isn't enough space to contain all the text you are going to type (or that is already typed)?

Possible solutions:

1) If text in columns, consider adding a column break
2) Shorten the text to take up less space
3) Slightly reduce your top and bottom margins in the document

so that the subject can be marked as resolved.

If I delete the section break, the previous section break becomes a page break. These sections are used to switch from two columns to one column and vice versa. The length of the following text doesn't change anything.
How can I remove this link between two section breaks? Or how can I modify the indicated section break that is marked as continuous and is not?

I've looked over your document, which is quite complex in terms of layout because it indeed contains many section breaks, and I always say that the fewer we have, the better off we are!! :)

However, you need to tell us exactly where you're encountering this issue, because I still find in your document
2 next-page section breaks and one page break.

The section break that bothers me is the one at the end of page 7. If I delete it, the previous one changes to "next page." Thank you for your research.

Sorry m@rina, the problem is on page 10 after the text
he resumed his professional activity until January 1, 1946.
The disorder at the beginning of the text comes from the transition from a computer using Word 2013 to an earlier version. But the one on page 10, I don't know how to fix.

In .doc or .docx, in both cases I have the same problem. This section break on page 10 is displayed as "continuous" and still causes a page change.

I changed my computer thinking there was something in the Word options. But it's the same problem. Maybe there's an option to change?

Hello Jeanrie.  When you need to insert a section break, do it right after the last character of the paragraph, without inserting a paragraph break.  Thus, on page 10, after "1946", press the [del] key so that "Correspondence" is next to "1946", and then directly insert the continuous section break. You center the title alignment, and go back to the previous paragraph to restore the 2 columns.  Friendly regards to m@rina. -- Retirement is great! Thank you for looking into it. I really would have liked to find the solution. The different parts were constructed with the same version of Word. If I redo everything, I risk encountering the same problem.
I understand that there is no simple solution. Word provides services for layout, but in return, it takes initiatives that are not always easy to understand.

My apologies, I didn't fully understand because I didn't see a continuous section break turned into a next page section break. The problem is that the page break occurs even though the section break is clearly marked as continuous.

At the risk of repeating myself, I'll blame Word, which goes haywire as soon as there are too many section breaks. That's why I said that the fewer we have, the better off we are; section breaks are the most complicated to manage in Word, along with wrapped objects.
The images you inserted in the text are unwrapped, and that's perfect.

But 49 section breaks in 22 pages is huge, and Word really struggles with that. And it's not just Word taking initiatives; it's mostly Word that bugs! :(

Redoing everything is indeed what we want to say, but I agree that the problem is likely to persist, and if it's not here, it may be elsewhere.

I tried a macro, that didn't solve anything.
I copied and pasted into a new document in different ways, that didn't solve anything.

Jeanrie, I fought long and hard trying (in vain) to solve your problem. Given the nature of your document, which is neither a journal article nor a brochure, I find it unnecessary to insist on using columns in your layout; it really adds nothing to the aesthetics of the document or to the ease of reading; and above all, it creates issues with page breaks for you! -- Retirement is great! Good evening everyone,
Thank you for taking an interest in my problem. I have been using this column format for a long time now since we are on number 23. Perhaps I should have opened each document on my computer and saved them separately before merging them. These are Word 2007, 2010, and 2013. They should be compatible. A friend managed to piece it all together, but he doesn't know how. By pasting bits here and there and spending time on it. I still struggled a bit with the page numbers that kept changing the header and footer heights constantly. Thanks again and I'll stop dealing with it for now.
