MB cache: how many MB do we actually need? Solved

Hello,

Everything is in the title :)

For basic use (web browsing, online poker, YouTube, etc.), how many MB do we need in cache?

I've seen PCs with 6 MB, others with 1 MB, so I assume there is a notable difference.

Cache memory is really used for heavy operations such as photo rendering and intensive calculations... So for office use, 2MB is sufficient.

hello.

These are details that really don't matter.
For basic use, you don't need a processor with 6 MB in cache.

In fact, it's often the L2 cache.
But on powerful high-end processors, we switch to L3 cache; my i7 has 6 MB in L3.

I don't know which processor you want to take.
But if you could give us the reference, I think it's 1 MB in L2..

For example on Intel Pentiums.

I would probably take an Intel i3, do I need an i5 for my use?

Probably a "2 GHz" or "1.66 GHz up to 2.4 GHz" or "2.4 GHz" in terms of power. In your opinion, which power is the best?

It will probably be 4 GB of RAM (I was told that 2 GB is a bit tight).

Note that (I don't know if it really counts in terms of power) I use it 8-10 hours a day...

I've checked out the laptops within my budget, and bad news... In my price range, I've got either a 1 core or an I3 xxxxU processor: low power consumption. So nothing really great...

Otherwise, I found an inexpensive laptop with an Intel Dual-Core Celeron N3160 processor (1.6 GHz up to 2.24 GHz), 2 MB cache. What do you think? Is it decent or should I avoid it?
