Question

Hello everyone, I have a problem with Windows Movie Maker. I created a video, and when I try to reopen my project, an error message appears saying "not implemented," so I can't open my project! I'm using Vista! Please help me, I have already spent over 10 hours on the video! Thank you Julien

The same thing happened: video not implemented (what does implemented mean??) and I managed to recover my work by re-importing ALL the files that were in my project!!  I tried to import just one image, it didn't work, but by doing: 1- open movie maker 2- import image: import ALL the images that are in your project 3- import audio: import ALL the audio tracks that were in the montage 4- file/open a project 5- open my project  and it worked!!!!!!!! I hope it works for you, I often work with movie maker and I know very well how frustrating it is to start over!!!

Hello, AAAARRRRRFFFF!!! After the bugs galore of the XP version, this problem with Vista. Microsoft spends its time forcefully selling operating systems that aren't even reliable, but we have to buy them if we want to use our PC. Movie Maker is a good example of their "I don't care" attitude as long as the cash rolls in. Can't wait for justice to finally make them accountable.  Shit, six hours wasted that won't be compensated, I think I'm going to buy "Premiere"!!!

Hello,  apparently your solution doesn't work Mempamal, I had already tried to save my project on the second partition of my hard drive as well as on a USB stick but it didn't change anything. I would think more of a crash during saving that makes it not finalized as it should be.

Hello everyone, I’m in the same situation... but here apparently I have the solution. Next time, you should save the project directly to your computer and not in Movie Maker... at least that’s what Microsoft explains in 'troubleshooting...'. Well, I might have found a solution: not to recover your work (which seems lost to me, sorry, I've had the same issue), but if you start over, after saving as, go to publish a movie, then choose "on this computer," and after that, it's all good.

For me, the problem has been solved since I installed Vista SP1!

Furthermore, it is not recommended to move the files (Images, Sounds, Videos) that you used to create the video after use. It creates new problems!!!

I had the same problem. I solved it quite easily. I opened Windows Movie Maker (and not my project), then I started importing a video and a photo, and only after that, I opened my project. Miraculously, Windows Movie Maker recognized it and opened it.

This has annoyed me too much, I deleted the project, I wasted my time like when I spent a whole night writing an internship report on the trial of MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007, a software that's on the Windows Vista desktop... and then when the next day we reopen it and can't make any modifications on it anymore, it really sucks. I even tried to print it (AT LEAST!!) but nothing, into the trash went a 3-hour work again! Anyway (I'm having a hard time talking tonight, I know what I'm saying is a bit unclear lol) sometimes you wonder if it's not Microsoft doing this on purpose with their demos everywhere and then in the end NOTHING pf! I'm not buying anything from them anymore, I'm so fed up, and especially no more VISTA, their latest crap can't hold a candle to the old version.

I had the same problem as all of you... a little advice: before saving, publish the film (it will be readable normally, but it won't work on Movie Maker)

I also noticed that when I redid my work and tried to open the old one again, it worked!!
Later, ... same problem not implemented ... I also did another piece of work, same thing I was able to reopen the others...

There's one thing I don't understand, when I try to do a tiny bit of work hoping for the miracle that the others will work again, well, the miracle doesn't happen^^... but when I do another complete piece of work, it works again... (very strange ?!!??? ) incomprehensible ...

Anyway, I was able to recover old videos thanks to this manipulation... (SO YOUR WORK IS NOT LOST... there is a way to recover it but I don’t really know how to do it...)

I had the same problem, and fortunately I managed to get around it.
I don’t know if it will work for someone else.
I opened Movie Maker through another project that wasn’t bugging and then opened the problematic project. Movie Maker loaded the project files normally and didn’t display ‘not implemented’.
Hoping this helps some people.

Hello everyone!

I had the same problem that really frustrated me.
THE SOLUTION WAS FOUND ABOVE!
Just import a few media files from your edit into a new subfolder in Movie Maker, then import the edit, and IT WORKS :D
I want to specify that I published the edit on my computer and I will probably find a decent video editing software :)

1. Open Movie Maker
2. Click on Import Media
3. You need to take a photo and music
4. When your photo and music are on the screen (the imported files frame), go to File
5. Click on Open a project...
6. A window opens, select the project (.mswmm)
7. Click on Open

I totally didn't need this!!! A montage that traced 3 years of a friend's life... wow I need to step away from my PC!!! Bonsoir à TOUS  J'ai enfin trouvé comment résoudre ce problème  Je reçois le message Non implémenté sur Outlook 2007 quelle que soit la fonction que je veux utiliser : envoyer/recevoir, nouveau message, etc.  La solution : il faut désinstaller toutes les options complémentaires à Outlook, sinon la suite se plante. Ensuite, supprimer Outlook puis réinstaller.  C'est tout.

After a night of sleep and "reflection", I think I can provide an explanation for the "not implemented" problem. Movie Maker no longer recognizes the file source, so it seems to me that we need to "show it the way" (go look for a photo and a piece of music from the project in its folder and reimport them into Movie Maker). If that doesn't work for everyone, it seems there must be a lot of sources (many files) placed all over the computer. It would therefore be preferable, before starting a project, to gather all the source files in the same folder to create a single source. With my old PC (Windows XP and not Vista), files without sources were marked with a red cross, so we could see which ones were missing and we weren't as alarmed by this disappearance of work.  And above all: Do not move a source file from its original location (nor delete it, of course) because Movie Maker will not find it and will send its lovely message """ NOT IMPLEMENTED """  There you go, I hope my reflection is right (maybe someone among you can tell me if I'm correct?) because I am pretty much a beginner in computing; I hope, however, to have provided some useful input. Gigi's answer is the correct one! I want to add that you need to import at least  one file (image, video, audio) from EVERY  folder you used in your project!! This point is VERY important! If when you open your project you still see the message "not implemented", it means that there is still a missing folder!  The easiest way is to import all  the files from all  the folders used in the original project.  Good luck!

Hello everyone.  I couldn't escape this NOT IMPLEMENTED! And I finally managed to get my work back 20 minutes later. To do this, make sure to IMPORT all the music, videos, and images that you are using for your film (don't place them on the timeline at the bottom, leave it as is!!!) then open your project, and you're good to go! Djclubber,  The problem is that in all the stuff I read, they advised me to completely delete everything in the imported media, so I removed the files that contained red Xs. The most surprising thing about all this is that none of the files moved, as I worked on it all day yesterday, finished it, and when I came back to burn it, that's when the problems started...  In any case, I really tried everything, I even went and searched for all the documents (photos, videos, music) that I had used and put them back into my imported media, and nothing is working again, still the same message: the type does not match. Hello, for those desperate because the technique for importing audio and image files isn't working, check if, like me, you haven't modified the source file in any way, even by adding other photos, for example. Just move them around and try the technique again.

EUREKA!!!!! I also had this issue last night with a window stating not implemented (30 hours of work down the drain), but no, I went to a specialist who just installed the new version of Windows Movie Maker via Windows Live (MSN). So just type in Google Windows Live Movie Maker or just Movie Maker and download the latest version! And there, miracle, reopen your project with the new version, it's there!!! I went to 3 computer stores and did everything this forum suggested, none were able to tell me what to do except to start all over again. I hope to help some and wish you all the best!

Hello, I also spent about thirty hours on a video, everything was working very well until that infamous "not implemented" message. I came here and followed Miss Jess's advice: - I re-selected the photos and videos I had used, even though they were still present in Movie Maker in the imported files - I tried to open my project again - I screamed with joy when I saw that everything was back to normal!  So now I'm publishing it on my PC, even though I'm only halfway through, in order to quickly burn it to CD, never mind, I'll make my video in multiple parts, but I'm so afraid of losing everything if it's too heavy. I also imported a music track and dropped it into movie maker, then I opened the project, and finally, no more "Not implemented" issues, it works!! Thanks everyone :D
