Mac stuck after entering (correct!) password

Hello,
I couldn't find anything on the forum that relates to my issue. Let me explain:
The startup goes smoothly, we have an admin profile and a profile for the kids.
Accessing the kids' profile works without any problem, but when we select our profile, we enter our password and when accessing our profile, the colorful wheel appears, endlessly... (we left it running overnight...)
Does anyone know how we could proceed?

Perform a disk repair after booting from the recovery partition:
