Good evening,
I am currently preparing a piece for art history on Picasso’s work “Massacre in Korea.” However, I’m stuck on something! Indeed, I have no idea what an oil on plywood is, and moreover, can I say “this painting was painted” or “it was coated in oil (lol)?" I don’t know what term to use because I’m not sure what it is... I definitely don’t want to make a mistake, especially for my art history class!
Could you give me a little help?
Thank you!

Google is your friend; I didn't know anything about it either, but now I know it's a term referring to an oil painting on a piece of wood or plywood.
Unless for water-based paint it should be said that the paint has been moistened, I see no reason to say that an oil painting has been oiled ^^

Oil on plywood means that the painting made using the oil painting technique was created on a plywood wooden support. If it had been called oil on canvas, the same principle applies except that the support is canvas.
