Hello, last night I was chatting on Messenger with a friend and suddenly I couldn't respond to his messages and then couldn't read the last ones he sent me???

Can you still access his Facebook profile?
Maybe he has blocked you if it says in the conversation "You can't reply to this conversation."

Yes, that's what happened, but earlier I had the same problem with the same person and the contact was restored because he had an issue with his Facebook account?

  This must surely be due to the fact that the person in question had to undergo a security check on their account, which temporarily gets locked until the identity verification is completed.
