Hello,
Please help me
This morning, by mistake, I sent an email from Hotmail to an unknown Gmail account
I got the Gmail address wrong
This email contains personal and important information as well as images; is there any way to ensure that this email will not be misused or, if possible, to delete it?

Configuration: iPhone / Safari 9.0

Hello,

Sorry, but as a principle, you never know what a stranger might do. Most of those you don't know will throw this email away without a second thought; others might have dubious ideas.

I wonder how one can send an email to an unknown address :-/

  I'm wondering how you can send an email to an unknown address :-/
  When you type the address yourself (instead of copying/pasting), and/or when you take an old-fashioned address (pen) on a piece of paper.
  
  When you put a dot in place of a hyphen (and vice versa).
  toto.titi@mail.com
  is different from
  toto-titi@mail.com
  . It's all c*r, but unfortunately it's very common ;-\

Can I know the name of the owner? Is it a man or a woman?

  If it's in France, if you have serious troubles, the Police will be able to find out...
  
  If you are dealing with a Syldavian whose email is provided by an obscure Burmese service provider hosted in the Tuamotu Islands, there is no hope of finding out more.

  I have no idea who the owner of the Gmail address is. But I checked, and it is a valid address.
  
  For now, I want to contact Hotmail customer service to see if there is a possible solution.

    If you haven't received an error notice, yes, the address is valid... It can be anywhere on the Planet.

    Well, not quite. In Gmail, it can work, but you have to be on Gmail yourself (our friend is on Hotmail) and you need to install a lab for… ;-\
    
    Not to mention that there are plenty of parameters to consider (display and/or opening of the email, for example) for it to possibly work.
    
    In short, it's not looking good ;-(

Actually, the real destination email address is similar to the unknown email (with a difference of a few letters)

So, according to you, no solution!

  I don’t think so. Some platforms (Outlook, Exchange) allow it, but there are drastic conditions:
  
  The recall of an email is a well-known feature among Outlook users that allows users to recall a message after sending it so that the recipients do not see it. This feature works properly although under certain conditions the email will not be recalled. For example, if the recipient previews the message, if the message is opened in the reading pane, if the recipient is using an email service other than Outlook, etc.
  
  Even with these restrictions, this function is practical, but it is not available in Gmail; however, there is a similar function called Undo Send. In Gmail, it is possible to enable a lab that will allow you to cancel the sending of your message for x seconds after clicking the send button.

  But I wonder how to trust a hacker.

    The simplest thing is to resend an email to that person explaining your situation, without going into too much detail, and asking them to kindly delete the email.
