Hello everyone!

So here it is, I've been facing a problem for a while now, and this issue is starting to annoy me because I can't seem to get rid of it.

One day I wanted to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but I found that I wasn't particularly fond of Windows 10 for one reason or another, so I switched back to Windows 7... and since returning to Windows 7, I no longer have a desktop background (even if I add one, it disappears 10 minutes after adding it) with the permanent message at the bottom right saying "Computer number XXX. This copy of Windows is not genuine." That's my desktop background issue.

Then there's this message that appears and reappears very often, telling me:

"/!\ You might be running a counterfeit software.

To access all the features of Microsoft Windows, such as all the updates from Windows Update, to get the latest updates and technical support, your copy of Microsoft Windows must be validated.

Log in and validate now."

That's the infamous message that pops up every time I turn on my computer since going back to Windows 7...

I've consulted a lot of sites and forums, but the questions were from 2010... So if you could help me, that would be really great!! Thank you very much!

Hello
Indeed, you need to start by validating your version of W7
either the sticker is stuck under the PC,
or the key is hidden in the BIOS; you just need to reactivate it
that's really the starting point for everything else
in any case, if you don't validate it, you won't have Windows at all after 30 days (neither W7 nor W10)

I followed your instructions, but the computer indicates that this key is not the correct one:

"The specified product key is not a valid Windows 7 product key.

Please check your product key and enter it again."

I copied the product key that was on the sticker, but on this same sticker it says: "Windows Vista...." while I have Windows 7...

Hi,

You need to use the phone method.

5 sets of 5 letters and numbers, without entering the dashes.

By phone, what does that mean?

I don't understand how to do it...

Just reactivate your key, which was deleted during the update by Windows Update.

For explanations, check this side and restart your PC.

Good luck

Thank you for your response, but I have already consulted this site, and it did not solve my problem... Here is the message that appears:

"Reinstalling license files...
Error: 0xC007F025 Access denied: the requested action requires elevated privileges."

This time the message does not appear, a window opens. It starts with "Reinstalling license files"
and all the lines begin with "The license file [...] has been installed"
What should I do next?

If I understand correctly, this PC was originally delivered with Vista
but then, how did you upgrade to W7?
Do you have a CD/DVD, or did you download a simple upgrade?
Or did someone install it for you?

That's a good question; it wasn't me who made the transition to Windows 7, but one of my acquaintances.

re
it doesn't smell good!
if you hadn't taken the precaution to save that key BEFORE switching to w10 and saved other things too: drivers, documents?
no? nothing?
at worst, you still have the option to buy a w7 dvd with a license
to be at ease
or just a license (you'll be provided with a worthless little gadget with it, otherwise it's illegal)
but be careful of the scams with supposedly never-used licenses, which get blacklisted by microsoft 2 months later, because sold and therefore installed in numbers...
avoid ebay and leboncoin!!!

No, I didn't think we had to do that before switching to W10, especially since before installing, the contract stated that it would be possible to revert to W7 at any time and without modifications...

Hi,
the contract told us that it would be possible to switch back to W7 at any time and without modifications...
Provided you have a legitimate version of Windows ;-)

I would have liked to pay nothing, but if there is no solution, I won't have a choice. Thank you very much anyway!

What message do you get after slui 1?
