Personally, I had the same problem with Acrobat Reader DC on Windows 7, 32-bit. You need to go to "Edit / Preferences / General" check "Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer". This trick installs an additional function of Acrobat Reader, and that's it. ;-) TILOU41.

Hello JC RHAMINO,

this issue with the preview of the first page of PDF documents on the thumbnails is acknowledged by Adobe. It is related to the 64-bit versions of Windows (7, 8, and thus 10).
Perhaps you had Adobe Acrobat Reader installed before PDF-XChange Viewer.

In Acrobat, the following manipulation was sufficient:
- open the "Open" dialog box
- at the top right of the box, click on the "Change view" icon and select "Large icons".
- click on "Cancel" and exit Acrobat.
This manipulation carries over to the Windows Explorer.
You can try with PDF-XChange Viewer as the "Open" dialog is just another view of the explorer.

Otherwise, I suggest trying the Fix proposed here:

Hello,

I just installed the latest version of ADOBE ACROBAT READER, but the issue persists.
I have always used PDF-XChange Viewer.

I couldn't find: In Acrobat, the following operation was sufficient:
- display the "Open" dialog box.
in the ADOBE menus.

Thank you for your help, but I'm going back to my old setup on WINDOWS 8.1.
Too many various problems with WIN 10!

In the Adobe menus, "Open" is found in the "File" menu.
There should be an equivalent in PDF-XChange Viewer.

Haven't you tried the "fix"?

That said, for Windows 10, as with any new software version, it is probably better to wait a bit ;-)

Hello, I am trying to perform your operation in PDF X-Change and I can't find the thumbnail activation, and I'm in /General. Previously, I was able to see my previews both in folders and in Outlook, but since I reformatted the computer, it doesn't work anymore.

I had the same issue; I couldn't find the checkbox in settings, so I simply clicked on the preview pane in the view tab of the explorer, and my thumbnail appeared next to it.

In Windows 8, we had the preview instead of the PDF icons.
On W10, we only have icons and no previews.
You can place the preview pane on the right side of the window, but the icons remain icons and not previews.
