Hello,
I've been using Plex for a few months now, and I think it's a great tool. However, I find that some files (whether they're in .avi, .mkv, or .mp4, possibly more so for .avi) don't manage to retrieve metadata, so I end up with no cover, no summary, no director or cast, and I think it's a shame. I wanted to know if there's a way to change that; maybe you need to enter the IMDB number using some software or something else, or maybe place the title in a specific location, I don't know... I tried modifying the media info via VLC, but it doesn't change anything.
When you go to the media info via VLC, statistics tab, some files show all stats as 0, while others do not, but it doesn't seem to impact the metadata in Plex. All other information is similar, and the pages for the problematic films do exist, whether on IMDB or TMDB, so I don't know what to do anymore... Any ideas??
Thanks!
Configuration: Mac OS X (10.10.3) / Chrome 42.0.2311.135

Hello,
I found the solution a long time ago now, but I hadn't thought of sharing it...
My files were named "movie title in French (release year in number format 2010)", and for trilogies and other movie sequels, sometimes I added, for example, LSDA 1 (for The Lord of the Rings, to organize them in order in my folders), with sometimes separators like dashes "-".
And I realized that the release year can also differ between Allociné and IMDB or TMDB depending on I don't know what criteria.
For files that Plex refused to recognize at all, it was by playing with this data that I managed to obtain the metadata. Sometimes it was just a matter of replacing a dash with a comma, or removing additions like LSDA, or switching the release year from Allociné to IMDB, and Plex finally recognized the film in the database!!!
I hope these details will be useful to others, even though I've never received any feedback on this topic ;)
See you later.
