Help, my touchpad is reactivating by itself!

Good evening,
I have a problem with my touch pad. I use a mouse because I prefer it over the touchpad. Until now, I hadn't had any issues. Recently, the function on my keyboard that disables the touchpad is no longer working, and I have to go into the control panel, uncheck and recheck: "disable when external mouse is connected." This happens every time I turn on my PC and sometimes when it is in sleep mode. This means that even the control panel is no longer being obeyed at startup. There must be something at startup, but what should I do? It’s annoying. Has anyone got a solution, please?
Thank you in advance :-)

    Hello.
Go to Mouse and see if you have Synaptics.
If so, click on the touchpad and disable the touchpad.
    Try it.

      Hello,
Thank you for your response, Tribun.
I don't know what Synaptics is, but I found something similar. I disabled the Elan smartpad, I turned off my computer and turned it back on. But the problem persists; I had to "disable when the external mouse is plugged in," just like I do every time I start it up. :-( . It doesn't make a difference.
      Thanks anyway.

But have you tried FN + F9 to enable or disable the Touchpad?

Yes, of course, but completely inactive unlike the other keys.
I will see what you recommend below, but I don’t remember having this option...

Click on the Mouse function in the Control Panel.
You should normally see this > device settings.
    Synaptics, Enabled > YES.

    Is that it?
Yes, I think I followed your advice, I don't have that word Synaptics but I think it corresponds. But it doesn't change anything. When I turn it off, I still have to revert to it when I turn it back on.

      However, your Touchpad is disabled.
Try this, enable the Touchpad and then press Fn + F9 once or twice.
      See if it gets disabled.
On some PCs, it's Fn + a function key depending on the brand of the PC.
What is the brand and model of your PC?

    Always the same :-(
At home it's also Fn + F9. The other F keys are fine, but not for the touchpad, I wonder what went wrong with it!
    It's an Asus N76V laptop.

Check if the NumLK key is not activated.
Then also check in the system restore if you have any restore points.
If so, restore your PC to an earlier date.

On Dell it happened to me: the solution = it's the Fn+F5 key that toggles the touchpad on-off
(and thanks to all those who wrote these texts before, it also helped me to look for "the" right key)
