Hello,  In Word, as in Open or Libre Office, you select your character, then right-click, Font, and check Subscript or Superscript, in this case Subscript for H2O.  Faster, you select the character and press CTRL + (the key that has + and = to the left of the backspace key) to apply subscript, or CTRL SHIFT + to apply superscript.  -- C-Claire

Hello, These are "Superscript" characters What software are you using, please? If you are using Open Office or Libre Office: Select the characters in question (2O in your example), > then right-click, > choose "Characters," > then "Position" > select superscript and confirm  If your issue is resolved, please let us know, it could help others.
