Hello! I need help from someone for the following problem:
When I start my machine, I get the following message: parity check 2
I tried to access the BIOS but to no avail, and after a while, the keyboard stops responding.
Is there anyone who could give me some guidance (as detailed as possible) for this issue?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
the outcome of all this discussion is that the problem is due to an error in one of the expansion cards in the PC (sound card, graphics card, network card, etc.), so it is enough to remove the cards one by one and boot the system, then the message will no longer appear.
Thank you

In my case, I have the HP D530 UC. During startup, it displays "parity check 2." What should I do?

Thank you very much. I found the solution; it's from a USB port expansion card since the original ports are no longer working.

Hello,
this type of message seems related to a problem with the computer's memory.
If you have more than one memory stick in your machine, can you try booting while testing them one by one?
Best regards.

Hello,
I have the same problem.
Actually, it's a virus (according to Sophos) that emulates a memory failure when an infected file is executed.
I therefore chose to completely reinstall Windows (deleting the partition). I managed to get to the end. Well, upon restarting Windows, I still get the same message!
Note: I had to do it several times for the Windows installation to go all the way through. Several times, it crashed during the file copying...
Where is this virus hiding? Why is it still there after formatting the hard drive?
Does anyone have an idea?
Thank you

Hi Delaye03,
If I had really been strong, it wouldn't have taken me days and days to find out. I first looked, like everyone else, on the virus side, then on the memory side, before remembering that my computer had been struck by lightning and thinking that it could be related. No, really, I wasn’t very good on this one... But it's true that this message is deceptive. It really makes you think of memory or a virus. And obviously, everyone falls into the trap... Honestly, the guy who came up with it must not have been fully awake that day.
But if I've been able to help others solve their problem, then I don't regret at all all those hours spent torturing my brain.
Good luck...

it's not due to a virus but something else and I believe it's because of the RAM

Hello,
I think it's a parity boot virus. Even after formatting, it remains present. The appropriate action would be to format and remove the power supply for 5 minutes after formatting, and not to install Windows.
This virus loads into memory at every boot, as it is located in the boot sector, which is not formatted. The purpose of the maneuver is to prevent it from returning to a file after the PC is shut down, which is why it is important to format and unplug the power as soon as the formatting is done.
Have fun.

Hi there, please I have the same issue with my Compaq processor 733, 128 MB of RAM
At startup, it displays parity check 2 and I can't do anything after that, not even enter the BIOS. Please tell me what to do.

Hello,
This message isn't necessarily related to the memory. In my case, it appeared after my modem card was damaged by a storm. I simply had to remove the damaged card to get a like-new computer!
In your case, it might be another card (video, sound, ...) that is damaged. But don't waste too much time testing the memory. It's probably not the issue. Good luck with your tests...
