Unable to remove the number 1 in Mail

Hello,
In the Mail inbox, the number 1 remains displayed
even though all messages are read.
How can I remove it?

is it normal that the number 2 is visible while there's an unread message?
for me, I should only see one number: so 1 instead of 2.

  Have you checked the reception folder thoroughly?
  I have multiple accounts, so several email addresses, and the numbers appear next to each account and automatically disappear after deletion.

Hi Nanard,

In general, if there’s a number, it means there’s a message (or messages) in the inbox! It could be spam or something else; otherwise, as far as I know, Mail doesn’t display anything.
Check all your accounts if you have several.

  Hello, I have the number 1 showing up in the message box and I've deleted everything but it's still there. How can I remove it? If you have a solution, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

  You always have the option to delete the preference file, but you'll lose some data, so you'll see if you need to reconfigure your accounts afterwards; it's not too bad, you don't have many!
  
  So, quit Mail, go to Finder/User (you, the home)/Library/Preferences, and put the file "com.Apple.Mail.plist" in the trash, then restart Mail, recreate your account or accounts, and you should be good to go. Note that all your messages are stored in User/Library/Mail.

  It's a message that I moved to a Mail folder that I created.
  So the small issue is resolved.
