Indeed, the overall performance seemed good to me. However, there is the issue you raised, specifically the brand "Medion."
Regarding this, opinions are quite contradictory, with "pros" and "cons" on the forums.

After research, Medion is an "assembler," but like many other brands, including those with good reputations.
It seems to me that the quality of the components makes the difference rather than the brand.
As for after-sales service, all resellers return the equipment; it is no longer covered on-site.
And unfortunately, the lifespan of a laptop is getting shorter...

The dilemma remains. Other opinions are welcome.
For my part, I will compare with other brands while trying to find the same characteristics.

The overall description seemed coherent to me, but the quality of the assembly is another matter and indeed has enormous importance.

I suggest this reflection,
Today many brands assemble their machines on monoblocks, making maintenance of elements that are likely to be solicited difficult or impossible.
This policy forces users to rely on after-sales service with absolutely outrageous costs or to replace their machines by purchasing new ones.
Consumption demands.............

Access that must be taken into account is located underneath the machine.
- The fan(s), which are wear parts and should be easily replaced without having to resort to after-sales service for complete dismantling of the casing. {Replacement by access hatch >>> a screwdriver and 5 minutes of your time.
- Same for accessing the hard drive >>> 3 minutes
- Same for accessing the battery >>> 30 seconds
- Same for accessing the RAM modules >>> 1 minute

These four elements are the most commonly replaced or upgraded.

Before purchasing a machine online, it is wise to get to know it in person in a store to better understand it.

I have shared everything I knew, with remarks and advice.

Define your needs before purchase, and how you will use your machine?
If you are focused on gaming, you should know that you will need a good graphics card, more RAM, a powerful processor, and a significant heat dissipation radiator. (only possible to be installed in a case with sufficient fans).
The processor will need to be of good quality, and since it will be heavily used by increasingly heavy software, heating will be significant and it needs to be extremely well ventilated.
You should lean more towards a central unit that will be assembled by a professional who will listen to your needs and create a machine that suits you.
Similarly, if you use your machine for multitasking, video playback, opening various software, e.g.: word processing + spreadsheet + photos + others, etc....
The more you tax your machine, the more performant it needs to be.
However, it must be said that the machines offered have good characteristics.
For example: the specifications you presented in the introduction
Now, you need to be careful to know who the assemblers are, and inquire about their credibility.
To ensure that the points I previously mentioned exist, so that minimal maintenance can be performed by the user, without needing to resort to after-sales service.

Since I won't be using this laptop for gaming, but mainly for internet browsing and video (TV as well), as well as office work, this computer seems somewhat "overperforming" for my needs.

Of course, a computer technician who can assemble the various components based on needs is the ideal solution.

Without wanting to promote any machine,
I currently own three HP Pavilion computers, which have followed the evolution of electronics in terms of machines and their performance since 2002, as well as the evolution of Windows 98, 98 Second Edition, XP, Windows 7, and 8.
I am replying to you from my HP Pavilion, which is almost two years old now, with specifications equivalent to those you presented with the model
HP Pavilion 17-e108sf, 17.3" HD+ + HP Mouse
Without wanting to advertise, I can only give you my perspective on this type of machine.
I find this machine to be excellent in terms of quality-price ratio >>>
Operating system, Windows 8, Norton antivirus, RegClean.
I have never experienced a crash, regardless of my operating mode since purchase.
The machine is used intensely on a daily basis.
I work multitasking, often with video actively running, without experiencing lag or degradation in image and sound quality, multiple software applications open, and multiple internet windows open, all without crashing or slowing down.

Note: I am not a gamer, so I will not comment on that aspect in relation to the machine.

An interesting point is the accessibility of components, which I have already mentioned earlier.

It would be wise to consider a cooling pad to place under the machine, which would help cool the motherboard and processor (applicable to all laptops).
Ventilation is a bit limited, but as with all laptops, compact design necessitates this...

Lastly, one final remark: Always aim to find the most performant machine possible based on the quality-price ratio.
It depends on your budget to invest.
A machine is never performant enough, as the evolution is so rapid and software needs are becoming increasingly demanding.
The speed and performance of processors + RAM are increasingly required.
I already think that considering a machine with 8GB of RAM is a wise option for the near future.
You never know what tomorrow will bring.
It must be acknowledged that when purchasing a machine, it is already out of date...
But since a decision must be made at a given moment, one must take the plunge...

Choosing a 17.3" screen is a good option.
To repeat myself, in the long run, add a fan tablet under your machine to increase the longevity of your equipment.

I would like to buy this one for video editing with Pinnacle 19, do you have any comments that could help me make a choice, tech and I are like 1+1... lol.

MEDION is the brand to avoid at all costs! The components are thrown together haphazardly and everyone I know, without exception, who has had a PC from this brand has had major problems! It's true that the price for such hardware configurations is tempting, but it hides a lot of issues. It's better to pay more but to be at ease concerning reliability and after-sales service!
