I just got a GPS Explorer 3.0 and I can't sync it. How did you do it?

I have Windows Vista and I was able to load about ten CDs without any problem except for the CD Vaucluse EST, and thanks to Verteetjaune I was able to load it, see the manipulation to be done higher up Vicarius.

Hello, despite the operating procedure and after consulting the BAYO hotline, I still cannot use the cards. According to the hotline, they say it might be due to the DVD reader (very recent computer, just 15 days old!). So for now, the only suggestion from the hotline is for me to find an external reader (!) hoping that it works.

@pviHello, me too, although I perfectly followed BAYO's operating procedure for VISTA, I quickly found myself stuck on the map display side.
I successfully opened Carto Exploreur; then, wanting to prepare a hike near Cap Fréhel, I also managed to display map 22 WEST (edition 6) to create a route; Next, to trace the rest of the itinerary, I inserted the CD of map 22 EAST (2nd edition) into the drive, and I received the message "BayoTools.exe has stopped working." I tried several times unsuccessfully, and I even tried another drive, with no result.
As I have bought (from IGN and Vieux Campeur) around thirty CDs over the past 6 years (which worked properly until now on my old Windows XP PC), I wanted to try other maps: out of 10 of them, only one
managed to display (the 73 EAST, 1st edition), all the others resulted in error messages (either the message "BayoTools.exe has stopped working," or the window asking to insert the correct disk, which I had indeed done). Among the 9 rejected maps, there are 55 NORTH (2nd edition), PARIS AND SURROUNDINGS (1st edition), 89 EAST (1st edition), 06 SOUTH (1st edition).
I wrote to BAYO, having not received a reply from the hotline, and I am a bit desperate with the holidays approaching.

Five years ago, when I still had a good number of paper maps at 1/25000, I used free software similar to FUGAWI (paid at BAYO) which allows georeferencing (=providing coordinates) copies of maps. I will check for possibilities on that front. Until now, BAYO does not seem able to adapt its existing library to VISTA, or perhaps they do not want to: in the absence of competition, it would be tempting to force customers to purchase new editions of the maps that would be compatible with VISTA...
If that's the case, there will only be 2 possibilities left:
- dream that IGN takes up the torch in a more professional way
- keep an old PC (with XP or W 98) dedicated to the existing library

I'm getting a bit frustrated while waiting!

Personally, I bought another DVD Reader/Burner to transfer my DVDs. I transferred them in safe mode except for one. Why did I make this purchase? Simply because a friend has a PC running Vista on which he has never had any problems.

One day I tried to transfer my last DVD, and it went through like a letter in the post in normal mode. The Windows updates must have helped with this success. Since then, I have all my DVDs on my hard drive, and I can use my application as before, but with more power.

“NB: The security used by Bayo is optimal to the point that we can no longer use our DVDs on Vista. Shame! And I’m not talking about the support! Currently, there’s a lot of bad publicity surrounding their software, and this doesn't seem to bother them much, but eventually their attitude could seriously harm their tool.”

As for you ffneuneu, I don’t understand why you want to delete the transfer of your DVDs. It’s faster with the transferred cards. Maybe a lack of space on your hard drive? To solve your problem, just delete the directories on your PC. The next time you launch it, the application will no longer find the directory and will ask you for the DVD again. From then on, the registry will be updated.

I am following your problem by activating message sending to my mailbox when there are responses.

@GillouDeLabasHi, thanks for your response, but actually, I deleted the carto maps from the disk and now when I open the software, the maps don't appear anymore (and I've searched all the features without finding a solution...)

@ffneuneuIt's normal that your maps no longer appear because you no longer have the tiles on your PC. However, you should see on the map of France (blue) in Carto Explorer that they are still present. This is normal because the registry has not been deleted. When you insert a DVD of a geographical area, does the display of your DVD show up when you click on the corresponding area of the map?

I don't know if there is a crack, in my opinion it's a bad question, at least on a public forum.

What is certain is that all Bayo solutions will make you take a version that will forbid any use of cracked cards. To top it off, it's impossible to remove this blockade except by reformatting your disk, a sort of virus, you know.

So, if you've already loaded the virus, you only have the option to format or change your computer, reinstall Cartoexplorer 3, absolutely do not apply any Bayo patch, and follow Verteetjaune's recipe to get it working under Vista.
