Yes, we cannot insert an active link into an image.

I believe the correct approach would be to add a field to the database to store the original link of each image.

It will always be possible to write a piece of code that allows:

- to insert the original link somewhere on the page where it will be displayed.

- possibly to write on the photo (using a specialized image management library) its original address. (but this link will not be active, just informative).

If I understand correctly, there's no simple solution. Too bad, I'll just create a text file with the links. Not necessarily very practical but I'll make do with it.

you can embed data in a jpg within the tags. You can very well use the 'Comments' tag for that, for example. Right-click on an image and then 'Properties' to view or edit them.
But they aren't directly readable, so it's better to have a separate text field as well.
Do a Google search on jpg tagger.
