The problem does not come from the MAC/printer, I have a Mac too and the same printer, everything worked very well at first, I went on several forums until someone finally told me that the problem lay in the diodes or some other electronics!
But this printer works very well on a Mac simply because it is connected via USB 2.0!
You need to go to System Preferences - Printers & Fax and from there, set up the printer...
Normally it should work!
