Hello everyone,
I would like to know if it is illegal to download music or videos from sites like "index of" that are presented in the form of multimedia directories.

Nothing to do with FTP...
These pages are generated by HTTP servers (like Apache) because the default index page is missing in this directory. You just need to disable the option to get a 404 or 403 instead (depending on the rest of the configuration).
People use them as WEB interfaces to their physical content, much like an FTP (no data presentation).
This doesn’t change the nature of the content; it remains subject to the law. That is to say, if you download an mp3 (like Red Hot Chili Peppers, for example), it is not free of rights, and you are putting yourself in an illegal situation. However, it is "less" illegal than downloading via P2P networks for the simple reason that during your transfer, you are not sharing any data with anyone else, and that is what is most "punished" by current law.

I created my website and when I go to it (http://www.fringed.fr) I land on the index, I don’t understand at all why. My Index.html is in the www folder of my site and... I AM DESPAIRING..... lol
Does anyone have a solution???? :)
I am in the same situation, I no longer have access to my site. It no longer exists, replaced by index of.
The worst part is that I need my site to get clients! I am in the process of creating a stopover lodge, and I am lost in computer language.
