Très étrange ton erreur. Si on regarde ici :

... on s'aperçoit que linux-headers-generic dépend de linux-headers-3.2.0-40-generic or toi tu as une version postérieure (3.2.0.39.47). J'avoue ne pas très bien comprendre comment tu peux avoir une version plus récente que celle qui est normalement disponible en ubuntu precise.

Peux-tu lancer les commandes suivantes et me dire ce qu'elle retournent

sudo apt-get install aptitude

En fait il y a un truc bizarre on dirait que tu as un mix de paquets 64 bits (amd64) et 32 bits (i386). En temps normal ils devraient être tous pareil. Il arrive de temps en temps qu'on installe des paquets i386 sur une installation 32 bits par exemple pour skype mais c'est sensé être un cas exceptionnel. Du coup est-ce que tu es dans ce cas ?

Est ce que tu peux me dire ce que renvoie la commande :

sudo aptitude remove linux-generic linux-header

(copie colle le résultat et répond "n" afin que je vois si ça ne pose pas de problème).

Ah ça y est j'ai essayé de télécharger quelque chose et ça a fonctionné. Je n'ai pas reçu de message disant que je ne peux pas.

Oui en fait les deux paquets (linux-headers-generic et linux-image-generic) bloquaient tout. Est-ce que du coup ta mise à jour arrive jusqu'au bout. Si supprimer ces paquets ne fait que les virer tout les deux (et aucun autre en cascade), tu peux les supprimer et faire une mise à jour.

sudo aptitude remove linux-image-generic
sudo aptitude remove linux-headers-generic
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude safe-upgrade

Apparemment ça se passe bien dans ce que tu as copié collé. Est-ce que cette commande se termine sans erreur ? Si oui normalement si tu lances la commande :

sudo aptitude safe-upgrade

... il devrait te dire que tout est à jour.
