Hello,
You just need to disconnect from the internet.
You are probably connected via wifi with this laptop; in that case, just disable Airport from the icon in the menu bar.
If this icon is not present yet, go to System Preferences / Network / Wifi and check the box "Show Wifi status in the menu bar" at the bottom of the window.
