Hello,
I want to use a background image on a page of my website.
I want this image to cover the entire page but to be cut into pieces so that the cut parts can link to different URLs...
1/ How to cut the base image?...
2/ How to maintain the same quality for each image so that the overall effect gives the illusion that the image is uniform in quality, meaning without changing the texture of the images in relation to each other...
As I don't know the technical terms, I'm a beginner... I'm rephrasing to be as clear as possible in my request...
I need to obtain one rectangle of 680x500 pixels and two rectangles of 258x250 pixels
Together they form a single rectangle filling the page of the site... So how can I obtain these cut elements from a base image to keep the overall quality...
First of all, I don't know how to cut an image; I'm used to using Illustrator, but Photoshop is installed on my computer and I don't use it...
Your advice would be greatly appreciated in beginner terms, please...
Thank you
Best regards
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 23.0.1271.91

Good evening,
I think you are using the wrong software for this kind of work. You need Photoshop to break down an image, because Illustrator can't do that.
To slice your image into 9 in Photoshop:
- Display the rulers with ctrl+R.
- Place your guides at strategic points by clicking and dragging from the ruler.
- Select your slice tool, which is behind the crop tool.
- Click on "Slices from guides".
- Save for the web.
- Choose "images" for the format, as well as "all slices".
- Ok.
Then, you will have a folder with 9 distinct images.
I don't know how to do that with GIMP.
Have a good evening.
