Tower that keeps spinning after PC shutdown Solved

Question

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask for your help with a problem I've been experiencing lately: when I shut down my PC via Start / Shut Down (on Windows 7 64), everything shuts down perfectly except for the fans and LEDs of the case.
I suspect this issue arose with the recent BIOS update of my P8P67 PRO motherboard, which I had never updated before, to version 3207. When I hold down the On/Off button on the case, everything stops.

I haven't found an option corresponding to this in the BIOS, especially since the interface provided is a bit confusing compared to older BIOS versions...

If anyone has an idea about the nature of the problem and how to resolve it, I'm all ears...

Here's my configuration in case it helps:

Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K
RAM: 8.00 GB DDR3 Corsair
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 PRO
Graphics: GeForce GTX 570 Palit
Hard drives: SAMSUNG HD103SJ 1TB / OCZ-VERTEX2 SSD 60GB (the drive on which W7 is installed)

Hi,

Indeed, I heard that some BIOS manufacturers have improved their BIOS interface...

Otherwise, have you tried letting the case fan run? It might BE simply intentional to evacuate all the heat before the complete shutdown of the case.

My case is quite well ventilated and my components never exceed 60° for the graphics card, 50° for the processor, and even less for the motherboard... So I don't think that's the cause, knowing that I've had this PC for a year and a half and it had never done this before :/

I left it running for 15 minutes last night to see, and it kept going, so I stopped it manually. I assume that's enough time to cool down :)

Why update the BIOS? Everything was working fine, right?

It may simply be done on purpose to expel all the heat before the complete shutdown of the tower.

The components are able to cool autonomously when turned off, it's not like a video projector where the fan runs for 2 minutes to cool the lamp.

Consider reflashing the BIOS or making a backup if you can; nowadays, motherboards are capable of doing that.

Or it could be a bad connection of the buttons, but I doubt that strongly.

Yes, I think so too. Have you thought about contacting the support of the motherboard manufacturer? If not, after that I have no more ideas, sorry.

I recently had a major problem that was impossible to detect, which has disappeared I don't know how, and I was advised to update the BIOS among other things.

Apart from that, I have no system instability or anything, just this issue. I would like to find a solution first before reverting to an earlier version. I don't think this can be resolved in Windows, but there must be an option or something to do in the BIOS, right? And it may not even be related to the BIOS...?
