WLAN issues: IEEE 802.11 WLAN does not exist

Hello,

I'm outlining my problem.
Following an issue with her WiFi USB key, my mom called her internet service provider and spoke with a technician. He "took control" of her computer remotely and configured an internet connection via an Ethernet cable.

She then asked me to buy her a new USB key to restore the WiFi as soon as possible.

The "catch": ralink Rt2870 Wireless Lan Card not found (the black "R" crossed out)

I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it, but the issue persists: the black "R" is still crossed out and the message "IEEE802.11 WLAN nonexistent" appears if I hover the mouse over it.

What steps should I take to reestablish a WiFi connection???

    Hello,

    What version of Windows do you have on the PC that is not connecting?

    What internet service provider do you use?

    Is the PC a laptop or a desktop (tower)?

    When installing the driver, did you connect the dongle to the USB port when prompted?

    Read this and disable the Ralink Wireless Utility, see link.

      It's a desktop computer with Windows XP Home.
      The Internet service provider is SFR.
      When I try to install the USB key, it tells me that the installation failed because there is an error with Ralink RT ........... I don't remember exactly, but it says that the installation didn't work because of this wlan issue ...
      I will try again tomorrow morning with the link you gave me, thank you very much.

      download the Ralink RT2870 /RT2770 /RT307X /RT2070 /RT3572 USB driver for XP here on a USB flash drive, then try to install it on the PC.

      So I've disabled ralink, I've also downloaded the driver, but it's not working.
      When I try to install the USB key (Trendnet TEW-648UB) it says after a while: an error occurred during the installation of this hardware: Realtek RTL 8188SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 "

      When I check the network connections, I only have the Ethernet connection, of course. But since this morning, there's also a "gateway" that has appeared. What's that????
      I don't know what they did on my mother's computer, but they've changed everything at SFR LOL

    Hello,

    try performing a system restore to a date before the problem, that is, before the SFR technician's intervention, then reconnect your old Wi-Fi USB key to the same USB port it was connected to.
