What do the numbers we see in a Facebook profile URL (e.g., marge.simpson.50) mean?

    When multiple people have the same name, Facebook adds numbers. (1, 2, 3, 4... etc.)

    As I suspected, but I'm no longer sure since I was able to see an account with the number 5 (which I have access to) and another with the same name, number 50 (which I do not have access to).
    This gives us a marge.simpson.5 that I can access when I enter "marge.simpson.5" as the username, and a marge.simpson.50 which, when I enter "marge simpson.50" as the username to log in, a pop-up message says that an automatic correction has been made and then suggests that I log in to the account ".5"... I must admit I don't understand much, so... is the .50 an alternate account of the .5? :v
