Good evening,

when I start my (other) computer, I get the message displayed on the black background: "This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy and press any key to try again.". I have had this PC for quite some time and I do not want to lose all the data that has accumulated on it :/

But the strangest thing is that this is the second time it appears. The first time I turned the computer off and on several times (using the on/off button) and after a few tries, it eventually booted up and worked normally. Today, I turn it on, no problem. Then I turn it off to go out, and when I turn it back on later, the error message comes back, and this time even restarting more than the first time, it doesn't start again.

I looked for the cause of this problem the first time it happened. So there are two possibilities: I wanted to free up some space on my hard drive, so I deleted a few files, I don't think that's the cause but it's possible; the other possibility is that it shut down from the extension cord, so in an abnormal way.

Anyway, is it possible to bypass this screen, if only to avoid losing my data? :/

Oh yes, before coming to ask my question, I looked to see if anyone else had the same problem but it didn't help me much. I'm especially afraid of doing manipulations alone (formatting, reinstalling Windows, among other solutions I've read), not being extremely skilled in this area ^^'
Thank you in advance! :)
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 14.0.1
