23 GB of tmp files on my D:

Hello,
My laptop dates from August 2007 and I don't quite remember what I did when I initialized it for the first time.
When I go to "Computer," I see 2 drives in addition to the readers.
System(C:) 110GB
Data(D:) 27GB
And I noticed that in D: there is just a folder "temp" containing 765 .tmp files, all 31.5MB, for a total of 23GB. They all date from the same day with a creation date within a range of one hour.
The only thing I thought is that it might be a backup of my initial system, but I'm not sure. When I try to do a system recovery, it tells me that no files are present on the computer.
My question: what are these files and can I finally delete them to store more interesting things?

Hello,
A TMP file is a temporary file, meaning a file created temporarily by an application. Most of the time, these files can be deleted without risk, but it depends on the application that created it. If in doubt, it's best to move the file to a folder, check for a few days that the program or system works correctly, and then delete it.

Thank you for the response, but moving 23GB of 800 files is not ideal. Is there another way to check if they are in use, like modification date or something else?
