Open .xml on MAC

I just downloaded Open X File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.2, but I can't figure out how to use it. Can someone explain it to me?

It’s fine, I’ve fixed the problem. I save it on Windows as .xls and then, on Mac, it opens automatically with Numbers.

A .xls file is an Excel file.
Files containing XML code in Excel are the files that end with .xlsx; these files can be opened by Numbers without going through Windows.

As for text files, such as Word documents, those end with .docx and can be opened by Pages.

Moreover, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, TextEdit, etc., can open .docx or .xlsx files without relying on Windows.
