Go see it at the cinema, it's legal and it's still showing.
Or you can also read the books which are better than the movie (tried and tested!)

I agree, the book is better. It's more gripping. It's hard to put the book down, by the way. But still, I think the movie is good. The main ideas are captured, and the actors portray the characters quite well.
After all, that's my opinion.. :)

I didn't understand the point of this movie.
1 hour and 5 minutes of waiting for the action to start, only to end with a Hollywood happy ending.
Meh.

So the purpose of the story isn't the games! That's why it only takes 30 minutes of the story;
It's a book and therefore a film with a critical purpose, it critiques society by comparing the rich (the Capitol) who live in luxury and the poor (Districts 11, 12, etc.) who are oppressed by the rich and forced to sacrifice 2 teenagers.
The story is about seeing the oppressed and the oppressors and whether there will ultimately be a revolt
The triggering element of the revolt will be Katniss, because of the games, who refused to kill her boyfriend and would have preferred to commit suicide.
This will cost her dearly (see the other volumes)
If it's about everyone killing each other and having only one survivor, then go watch Battle Royale, not The Hunger Games.

I've read the book and I've already seen it in the cinema
