Hello,
I am writing here hoping that someone can finally help me, as I have previously gone to other forums, which have yielded nothing so far...
Here is my problem:
I have been working on a feature film for over two years now. During the making of this film, I only used Corel VideoStudio X2 (paid for at a high price) for editing. However, due to some kind of monumental bug in Windows XP, I had to reformat my computer. And to my surprise, some video encoding options (in Corel VideoStudio X2) have simply disappeared! The options I used all the time are no longer present in:
3. Share / Create video file / Custom / Type: WMV / Options / Profile:
- Neptune Best Quality 640*480
- Ulead 1080p 30i (I think that's it)
Both of them have disappeared, and it seems to me that I didn't do anything special to have them!! Now it only offers WMV8 with ridiculously poor quality
You may think that this is not so serious "after all, there are other formats"; but the worst part is that no matter what I do, the video it puts out is of mediocre quality with blur to spare and a tiny screen! I can't possibly release my videos like this!! Even when I choose a HD option, it is obvious from a mile away that it is not HD and that the resolution is extremely low!
Here are roughly the things I have done so far to try to solve this problem:
- Installed the software on a friend's computer = same result
- Updated my graphics card = same result
- Updated Direct X = same result
- Downloaded video codecs = same result
- Bought and installed version X3 = same result
I have done at least fifty searches online (yes, really!) and apparently no one has had this problem yet! Nothing changes, these two options just won’t come back at all!
So please! If anyone has the solution, I thank you in advance, even a hint of a solution would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I would like to open the discussion; you can always start another post.
I think that the new drivers for the software are no longer intended for
XP, that’s a first lead.
To install or reinstall the software, you need to clean the hard drive of all Corel files in regedit.
640x480 is not a high resolution.
1920x1080 is a maximum resolution.
Then just to be clear, it's the bitrate that determines the quality.
The installation at a friend's place? You need to register personally on the Corel website to unlock the codecs for MP3, AVCHD, H264, etc.
P.S.: I am only on "Studio 14." -
I don't think that being on XP changes anything; before formatting the computer, I had these options, why have they now disappeared?
Personal registration? I think that’s it, but I have already registered the product; in fact, you are telling me that I need to create an account on their site.... I need a new email address then because I previously registered the software (X2) with my old account, so I need a new one?
Also, I have already uninstalled/reinstalled countless times, it won't come back just like that... -
I went to the Corel website, after writing the code, it indicated to me that I might have already registered it. Indeed, by going to the list of registered products, it shows me:
List of Corel products you have acquired and registered
Date: Product: Serial Numbers:
2012-02-16 VideoStudio Pro X3 ***************
So the solution is not there!
Does anyone have another lead? Really, is there no one who has had this problem before me..... -
The situation has somewhat evolved:
I called the Corel technical support, and they roughly told me that "versions X2 and X3 have been abandoned." So, they strongly suggested I buy X4, telling me to first try the evaluation version. That's what I just did, and the options that disappeared are still not back!
3. Share / Create video file / Custom / type: WMV / Option / Profile:
- Neptune Best Quality 640*480
- Ulead 1080p 30i (I think that's it)
These are still not there, even in the evaluation version of X4, yet the Corel representative clearly told me that this version includes all the options from the full version! Whether in X2, 3, or 4 (evaluation version), these options are not there, whereas I had them before in X2 before formatting the PC! It's just as frustrating when I export videos in HD, regardless of the format; it's clear that it's not HD!!! The video size does not correspond at all to HD!
Honestly, if someone could help me, I'm really in a terrible situation! These options must come back, please!
I also thought of an alternative solution: the options must be included by default on the installation CD. If I install the software without an internet connection, the software won't be able to know that it is "outdated," and therefore it will have all these options, including what I want, right?
If anyone has the options I mentioned above in Corel Video Studio, please indicate them along with your PC specifications so that I know the problem is not coming from my PC.... -
Hello everyone, I have a new lead. In reality, it’s not a matter of being abandoned, the guy didn’t even listen to me, the problem comes from my PC!
I tried to export a video in 800*600, here’s what Corel shows me:
“Unable to compress the video. There may be a driver error or the frame size may not be supported.”
[17103:3:3]
As a result, I can't encode a video in HD!
If someone could help me please, thanks! -
My problem was solved yesterday! FINALLY!
Let me explain:
When you install Corel Video X2 without an internet connection, Windows Media Encoder 9 Series gets installed, and that's what gives you the options I've been trying to get back for so long. It was poorly installed on my end, so I had to delete it and then reinstall it! The solution was therefore on the side of Windows Media Encoder 9 Series!
Thus, the options: Neptume Best Quality and Ulead 1080p have returned. Everything is back in order!
I thank everyone who could provide me with leads or a bit of help.
However, I thank much less that little jerk from Corel's technical support who ultimately didn't even listen to me!
