Hello,
I wanted to alert you about a somewhat questionable practice on Le Bon Coin.
I'm currently looking for a small Austin to restore, and I came across this ad:
http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/284245321.htm?ca=4_s
I send an email. The mini is listed at 1000 euros, which is already strange.
I get a response saying that there are many interested people, so I should make an offer... I offer 1200 euros. Another response tells me that someone has offered 1300 euros.
Alright then. The next day I receive this:
"Good evening,
Due to the large number of interested people wanting to see and buy the Cooper, it will be possible to see the car on Thursday, February 23 in Lisieux (Calvados), which gives everyone time to reserve their day. Moreover, I am not at home right now (I am in the south of France, and the car is in Lisieux). The sale will be made that same day to the highest bidder. I think this is the simplest solution for me and for you.
The exact address where the car is located will be communicated to you a few days before the sale, along with my phone number.
For more information, questions, or anything else, feel free to contact me via my email.
Thank you. Pierre"
Of course, the email was sent to everyone interested in the car.
I find myself inundated with emails within an hour from people responding, including:
"Since when is Le Bon Coin like eBay??
Is this mini being auctioned off??
First of all, when selling a vehicle, it's good to have a phone contact beforehand to know more about the vehicle and the seller. To figure out if the guy is someone who takes care of the minis or a jerk who lets a cooper rot under a tree.
You've been trying to sell it on Le Bon Coin for a while; I think there's something fishy going on.
But I love the concept of everyone under the same tree on the same day. How do you plan to do it?? Do we all arrive at 10:00, take a ticket, and patiently wait until 5:00 to see who the lucky one is who gets to leave with it??
Awesome, I’m on board with the concept.
Safe travels, and in the future, put a diesel Laguna under your tree instead of letting a cooper rot!!!!"
I was doubled over laughing behind my computer.
Honestly, what nonsense. I don't know if it's a scam, but the guy is really too stupid.
It's true that we're going to take a day to go see the car and fight over it!

One last word: Poor guy.

Hello...
Did you know you could report it to the site....?!
However, the administrators, based on the announcement, cannot know how the guy intends to proceed....

Yes, I know I can report her, but for what reason?
The guy wants everyone to gather under the tree with the car!
We've seen it all!
