Hello,
Our hospital center is going to upgrade its version of the OFFICE pack (from 2000); I won't go into details, but if we move to V2007 rather than V2010, it will cost the hospital almost nothing.

As the project manager in the IT department, I was asked this question: what are the MAJOR differences between the Office pack 2007 and V2010 that could potentially justify a larger financial investment to access version 2010 instead?

Thank you for your valuable advice!

Configuration: Windows XP / IE 8

Hi,

Excel 2010 is more polished; it's the revised and improved version of 2007. Like any new release, 2007 had some flaws that were fixed in 2010, which also saw further enhancements.

If you have the choice and the means, it's better to upgrade to 2010.

The key is to know whether these "few corrected imperfections" are worth the much higher investment than V2007...

Hello,

Yes, I completely agree with Mike. Office 2007 is not a finished product. There are still a number of things that waver between 2003 and 2010!
For instance, there is a significant incompatibility between graphic objects in PowerPoint or Excel and Word.
Outlook 2007 is still stuck with the 2003 interface.

If you use PowerPoint, it has improved a lot, particularly with the ability to incorporate any type of sound.

Now, if the goal is just to create Excel spreadsheets and do a bit of correspondence, the difference is less clear.

There's one last thing: 2010 will last longer than 2007. Office is generally supported for 10 years. And there's a new version that's starting to show its face.

Hello M@rina,
Your remark about the duration of product support is excellent and very important for a public institution like ours!
Regarding the use of the Office Pack, after conducting an online survey among 500 users, it clearly appears that they only utilize about 10% of each product's capabilities, so 2010 is less relevant in this specific case. Thank you!
